RightShip, INTERCARGO jointly launch standard for safety in dry bulk sector

RightShip joined forces with INTERCARGO launching a new quality standard for the dry bulk sector which aims to improve the safety within the sector.

Following announcment received today by Rightship:

"After extensive industry collaboration, we are pleased to announce that RightShip and INTERCARGO have partnered to launch DryBMS. This new quality standard for the dry bulk industry will be independently governed by a new NGO, to be established later this year.

This is an important step in our work towards improved safety in the dry bulk sector, with RightShip and INTERCARGO aligned in their commitment to standards that all industry participants should meet.

DryBMS is supported by the International Chamber of Shipping and BIMCO. The standard outlines a clear set of best practice processes and key performance indicators, which both organisations believe will lift expectations of safety, sustainability and operational performance.

This is a joint standard, delivered with extensive stakeholder consultation, so we believe in wide adoption. RightShip and INTERCARGO would like to take the time to thank the joint secretaries, project managers, working groups and industry collaborators, including ICS and BIMCO.

The final draft standard has been completed and is available to view on the DryBMS website (formally drybulkmanagementstandard.org). We also invite you to sign up for the DryBMS newsletter to the latest news as we move towards developing the NGO and finalising the standard.

Thank you again for your support up to this point. We look forward to releasing a standard by the industry, for the industry."
