Canada: Protecting Killer Whales in Southern British Columbia

Transport Canada has issued Ship Safety Bulletin (SSB) No. 15/2022 to replace its previous SSB No. 12/2021. The latest SSB updates requirements under the Interim Order for Protection of the Killer Whale (Orcinus orca) which came into force on 1 June, 2022 for vessels navigating in, on or through specific waters in Southern British Columbia.

UN: By 2050, there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean

Shanghai Port Requirements for reporting machinery failures

Since 1st July 2022, the Shanghai Port in China has set local reporting requirements, effective for two years, in respect of machinery failure. In this context, the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration published an official announcement with the aim to strengthen the management of ships with machinery failure in navigation.
