BIMCO: Addressing underwater radiated noise in shipping through guidelines

The focus on underwater radiated noise (URN) from shipping has significantly increased over the past few years. As a result, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has decided to raise awareness of the issue by drawing on lessons learned from the recently updated, non-mandatory IMO Guidelines, BIMCO highlights.

German bulk carrier company Oldendorff has become the latest ship operator to embrace a resurgence in wind propulsion technology with a contract with Norsepower to fit three rotor sails to one of its vessels.
