Report your presence and slow down for whales

All ships above 300 gross tons must report their location, speed, and destination to a shore-based station when entering two key right whale habitats along the US East Coast: one in waters off New England and one off coastal Georgia and Florida.

28 April – World Day for Safety and Health at work

The annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on the magnitude of the problem and on how promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.

USCG releases their 2019 Port State Control annual report

The United States Coast Guard’s Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance has released its 2019 annual report over US port state controls. The aim of the report is to “provide the global maritime industry key statistics and compliance trends in relation to compliance with U.S. and international regulations, such as the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), and the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS).”
